Scyther to Kleavor Evolution Guide

Scyther to Kleavor evolution uses Black Augurite, an evolution item introduced with Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Scyther does not need to be traded for this branch, which is separate from its older Metal Coat evolution into Scizor.

Black Augurite can be used directly on Scyther in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This Scyther to Kleavor evolution guide explains the item method, the branch choice, and why Scarlet and Violet players may need Pokémon HOME.

The Scyther to Kleavor evolution requirement is simple once you have the item: use a Black Augurite on Scyther. The item is consumed and Scyther becomes Kleavor. There is no level, friendship, time-of-day, or battle-use requirement attached to the item.

This branch is completely separate from Scizor. A Metal Coat is associated with Scizor, while Black Augurite produces Kleavor. Make sure you use the item that matches the evolution you actually want.

Where the Kleavor Evolution Works

Black Augurite is usable for Scyther in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. In those games, select the item from your inventory and use it on Scyther just as you would use an evolution stone.

The Scyther to Kleavor evolution does not require a trade. That makes Kleavor simpler than Scizor once the Black Augurite is in your bag.

Can Scyther Evolve Into Kleavor in Scarlet and Violet?

Scarlet and Violet do not provide Black Augurite as a usable evolution item, so you cannot perform this evolution there. If your Scyther is compatible with Pokémon HOME, move it to a game that supports Black Augurite, evolve it, then move Kleavor back if the destination allows it.

This is the important platform limitation for the Scyther to Kleavor evolution. Catching or owning Scyther in Scarlet and Violet does not automatically mean every branch can be triggered inside those games.

Kleavor or Scizor?

Scyther has two distinct branches. The Scyther to Kleavor evolution uses Black Augurite for Kleavor, while the Scyther to Scizor evolution uses a Metal Coat trade in most core games. Neither is a temporary form; they are separate evolved species.

If you are completing a Pokédex, you may want two Scyther so you can keep both branches. If you are building a battle team, compare typing, stats, and available moves before committing the item.

Why Scyther Is Not Evolving Into Kleavor

If Black Augurite cannot be used, check whether the game supports the item and whether you selected Scyther rather than trying to give the item as a held item. The evolution item is used directly.

The Scyther to Kleavor evolution does not depend on Scyther’s level. Grinding more experience will not solve a missing Black Augurite or an unsupported game.

After Kleavor Evolves

Kleavor is Bug/Rock. Our STAB guide, Nature guide, and damage category guide are useful for planning a moveset and training path.

For the species profile after the evolution, the official Pokémon Pokédex entry for Kleavor lists its typing, abilities, and basic Pokédex information. That gives you a useful reference once the evolution itself is finished.

Kleavor Evolution Checklist

Does Kleavor Need a Specific Level?

The special requirement described above is the part that controls the Scyther to Kleavor evolution. If a minimum level is part of that method, it is stated in the relevant section. Otherwise, levelling by itself will not replace the required friendship, item, trade, battle condition, or game-specific trigger.

If you already have a high-level Pokémon, that does not mean you have missed the Scyther to Kleavor evolution. Most special evolutions remain available later as long as the correct conditions can still be met in a compatible game.

Do You Lose the Chance to Get Scizor?

Using Black Augurite commits that Scyther to Kleavor, so the same individual cannot later become Scizor. If you want both branches for a living Pokédex, keep or catch a second Scyther before using the item. This is especially useful if one Scyther has a mark or other quality you want to preserve for a particular evolution.

The two branches also use different typing after evolution. Kleavor becomes Bug/Rock, while Scizor becomes Bug/Steel, so choosing between them can matter for a team even when Pokédex completion is not your main goal.

The Scyther to Kleavor evolution checklist is Scyther, a Black Augurite, and a game that allows the item to be used. Select the item, choose Scyther, and the evolution happens immediately.

Once the item is available, the Scyther to Kleavor evolution is one of the cleaner Hisuian evolution methods because it has no hidden counter or time window.
